In the beginning ... was Bossa Nova

Once upon a time, a young boy (me) heard his first Bossa Nova album. "Big Band Bossa Nova" by the Enoch Light Orchestra, on
33 rpm vinyl. That samba sound rocked my world!

I loved (and still love) them all ...

Antonio Carlos Jobim.
Joao and Astrud Gilberto.
Sergio Mendes (and various iterations of Brasil '66).
Stan Getz.
Luiz Bonfa.
Walter Wanderly.
Milton Nasciemento.
Gato Barbieri.
And now ...
Bebel Gilberto
and those yet to be born
in the shadow of Sugar Loaf.
To play on Corcovado, oh how lovely.

And the heartbeat of samba is heard echoing
off the four corners of the world.
Hear it?
It's Bossa Nova ... "The New Thing."
